Description
1912 Colt Army Special in .38 Special. Later known as the Colt "Official Police," this is a very early example of what would go on to be an extremely popular handgun produced in the millions. This particular example of this thin and (at the time) very advanced revoler dates from 1912 and is thankfully chambered in the then-new .38 Special cartridge. Condition is very good. Cylinder has some normal Colt wobble when unlocked but has a very tight lockup on firing. Trigger pull on double acton and single action is as expected. Metal surfaces retain much of their original blue with some wear on edges. The left receiver flat has some light pitting - see pictures. Hammer has some discoloration but no rust. Five inch barrel retains good rifling. Grips have been replaced with pearl ones which appear to be authentic. A fairly scarce piece of Colt history.
