Description
Ishapore 2A1 in very good original condition. More or less a No.1 Mark III SMLE rechambered to fire .308, these Indian rifles are both reasonably scarce and much more economical to shoot than their .303 brothers. Rifle is in very good original condition. These Indian rifles are well built and rugged, but were never exactly lookers even fresh from the factory - these are all business. Metal surfaces are coated in the correct black enamel stoving paint with some wear on the grasping surfaces of the bolt handle and charger bridge. Wood surfaces are dark and seemingly impregnated with some kind of arsenal-applied rust proofing goop; a light film is present on the rest of the rifle as well. Wood is free of major dings or gouges, although of note is an unusual pinned-in patch on the front of the top handguard which appears original to military service. Stock shows correct aluminum buttplate and an original rack number. Bore is clean and strong. All mechanical functions are excellent. An excellent shooter and an interesting piece of any collection.
