Description
646REL, .36 cal., 7 1/2" octagon barrel with an excellent bore. This lovely commemorative retains about 99% factory blue on the barrel and cylinder with robust case-hardened colors visible on the frame, hammer and loading lever, the hammer showing light operational wear. The grip frame assembly retains about 99% silver plate. The smooth one-piece walnut factory grips are numbered to the gun and rate near excellent showing a few light dents. The left side of the barrel is marked "ROBERT E. LEE COMMEMORATIVE – NINETEEN SEVENTY ONE" with the same markings lightly impressed and ink filled into the cover of the presentation case. The walnut factory presentation case rates about excellent showing minor handling marks and features gray velvet lined compartments. It includes an empty reproduction "Eley Bros" marked cap tin, "L" shaped combination nipple wrench and screwdriver, brass round and conical ball bullet mould, non-adjustable James Dixon powder flask, a total of eight combination cast round and conical balls, and a key for the functioning brass mounted lock.
