Colt U.S. Model 1911A1 Lend-Lease Semi-Auto Pistol
General Guy H. Drewry's initials, proof marks and the post 1955 British London proofs on the slide and frame remain strong to crisp. The pistol includes a single Scovill Manufacturing magazine with a welded base. A salty old war horse.
serial #1165543, 45 ACP, 5" replacement High Standard barrel with very good bore showing light frosting and oxidation stains. The metal surfaces of this 1943-made pistol retain about 20% reapplied Parkerized finish, most of the surfaces having toned to brown with oxidation stains, limited pitting, scratches and assembly marks. The grips are Keyes Fibre checkered synthetic panels with reinforcing rings and ribs that rate about good plus with light to moderate wear and handling marks. Several parts have been replaced including the barrel, hammer, mainspring housing, the front sight appears to be a replacement reconfigured to be wider and higher and the rear sight appears to be a commercial replacement with a larger notch to match the front.
