~First - about Gunprime. I did my research before buying and discovered just how popular the Mossberg Shockwaves are. I also researched the Crimson Trace Laser Saddle and found rave reviews on that as well. Then, my final research was about who to purchase from! I found great reviews out there on Gunprime AND I could see they also offered THE best price, so I made my first ever online firearm purchase. I completed my order on Fri 8/25 and it was at my local dealer the following Tues 8/29 = VERY fast delivery indeed! I couldn't wait to pick it up but HAD to wait for my next day off from work, which was yesterday. 'Ran over there, did the paperwork for the background check, paid the 15., had great chats about the Mossberg Shockwaves (bec they too luv and own this firearm!) and I left there, thrilled to now have my very own! Gunprime was also spot on with their prompt email communications and notis re every step of the process. So my experience overall has been nothing less than AWESOME! TYVM to all involved at Gunprime! I would definitely do business w/you again!!
~~Next - about the firearm itself. I am a pistol owner but have certainly shot different types of guns via going target shooting w/friends over the years. I've wanted a larger firearm for home protection plus I have also coveted a laser sight for the added feeling of security that I would hit my target. God forbid that I ever shoot it for any other reason than target practice, but I now have peace of mind in today's scary world. We do live in a beautiful world but we know all the people on it are not. As a female who lives alone (well not totally alone as I share my home w/my pack of canine hoodlums3) I need to feel the security of knowing I can protect myself if need be. This firearm totally gives me that feeling. It's a beauty, feels great in my hands, and it's easy to navigate around in closed spaces. I've been watching lots of videos and learning even more about it. I decided to go with #3 buckshot as per many recommendations from others out there re home protection. I love the safety switch is so very close to the grip and I also love the many, very handy ways to turn on the laser. I plan on only shooting it from the hip, so yes indeed, that laser gives me a super secure feeling indeed.
~~~So yes, in conclusion, I highly recommend both Gunprime and this firearm to anyone else out there who is just like I was - researching and wondering. You will not be disappointed! Stay safe everyone and happy target shooting! I can't wait to try this baby out! =D
There's not much to say about the base platform, the 590's reputation precedes it. As far as the shockwave laser saddle configuration goes, it's a very light and nimble platform with a fair amount of accessory support. Mine is outfitted with the CDM MTRS-20 light/sling mount with the light to the right and the sling to the left. I also added the EGW Venom Optic mounting plate and a vortex venom to the top of the laser saddle. This required 1/2 8-40 gun screws to reach through the laser saddle and the 20ga shim. The Mesa Tactical 4 shell 20ga side saddle fits well with the laser saddle too. The Ergo tri-rail mlok forend that's made for the 12guage will fit with some modification, but it's definitely not designed for the 20ga.
The laser saddle itself is a fine piece of equipment with smooth adjustment mechanisms and a low profile. You won't really notice it. It's also pretty fun to practice aiming from the hip using the laser.
The smaller magazine cap on the 20ga allowed me to affix the mossberg 12ga heatshield blued finish, but I don't expect it to stay put under heavy shooting since there's no way to use the mossberg spacer that's included.
All to say, this one is fun even without ammo, all the more when you can take it to the range.
Buying some accessories for it. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.
Great for home defense. Overall size lends itself to handling in tight quarters. The laser saddle is a must for me and its intended use. 20 gauge recoil is very manageable in this configuration.
