I love that this newest shockwave can feed the 1&3/4" shorty shells without the need for aftermarket modifications. Other than that, it's a Mossberg 590. They're bad to the bone and you can rely on them to get the job done quick when it counts. For 90% of people out there, I highly recommend sticking to low recoil or shorty shells for the 590S. Also, you definitely want to practice if you've never shot one of these before. They are awkward to use at first, extremely powerful with normal 12 gauge shells, and can whack you in the face if you're not careful. The potential to effectively defend yourself with these is most certainly there, but you gotta take the time to learn how to use a birds head grip "firearm" under safe conditions, ideally under the supervision of someone who already figured out how to shoot one. XS big dot sights will help correct for consistently patterning high on target. Red dot sights will work even better for that issue.
Shockwave 590s, great gun fun to shoot.
I love the look of this gun. Its intimidating. It packs a punch. I would definitely buy and recommend this shotgun.
