Description
Remington Model of 1917 .30-06 rifle in good condiiton. Very early February of 1917 production. Rifle retains uncommon original bluing; most 1917s were reparkerized after the war. Condition is good to very good with lots of service patina and use marks. All marked parts have correct "R" markings including sight and bolt for a Remington gun. Two Eagle inspector marks are present on the left side of the receiver. Metal surfaces are free of pits and crusting; blue is fading into an attractive patina, with color varying between a near total brown on front sight and barrel band to a mostly intact blue on the receiver. Bore is quite good with strong rifling. Rare original cleaning kit is present in the buttstock trap door. Wood is solid and without cracks but shows a considerable number of dings and dents. The most serious damage is a patch of gouging under the left side of the receiver - see pictures. A crude VFW inventory marking is present on the left side of the stock - whether or not that consitutes defacement or additional history is up to you! Whatever the case, this is an attractive and well-loved very original 1917 with a lot of life left in it. Would make for an excellent shooter.
