Description
Type 99 Arisaka in 7.7 Japanese. Standard blued metal finish with straw-colored small parts and laminated-wood semi-pistol grip stock with finger grooves. Features the early anti-aircraft aperture sight and front inverted V sight with protectors. Rear barrel band has the mounting block for monopod, not mounted. Kokura Arsenal marked receiver with a weak series marking to left side. Clear type markings and Imperial Chrysanthemum. Serial numbers do not match, but bolt does match receiver. Bore is the desireable chrome lined version. Left stock has the initials "L.G.P." carved into it. Condition is good to very good. Bore retains chrome lining and is primarily bright with some dust throughout, dust ought to be cleaned before firing. Metal work shows extant bluing at seams and to interior of receiver, but a brown patina dominates exterior. Front barrel and bayonet lug are oxidized and are crusting slightly as is buttplate. Stock has separating seam on both sides and shows heavy handling wear and marks but is solid withouth wiggle between pieces. Series of dents to left stock near buttplate. Buttplate fits well but does sit slightly proud at the toe. Overall a nice example of an early Type 99.
