Description
One of 1776 cased 3 gun sets manufactured for the American Bicentennial in 1976, containing 3 of Colt's most venerable revolvers through time: the Python, Single Action Army, and Dragoon, all with patriotic motifs including "1776 - U.S.A. BICENTENNIAL - 1976" barrel markings. Gun (A) is a royal blued finished .357 Magnum Python double action revolver with 6" vent rib barrel, standard sights, non-fluted 6-shot cylinder roll marked with patriotic motifs and phrases, and 2-piece rosewood grips inset with silver plated US seal. (B) is a third generation .45 Colt Single Action Army revolver with blued 7 - 1/2" barrel, nonfluted cylinder roll stamped with American flag and 13 colonies, case hardened frame, blued grip straps, and 1 piece smooth rosewood grips with silver plate US Seal. (C) is a second generation .44 caliber 3rd Model Dragoon percussion revolver with 7 - 1/2" blued barrel, 6-shot cylinder with standard Indian fight scene, case hardened frame, silver plated grip straps, and 1-piece rose wood grips with silver plated US seal. Dragoon is accompanied with a powder flask, cap tin, bullet mold, and nipple wrench. All 3 revolvers are housed in the appropriate and attractive walnut 3 drawer display cabinet, with drawers red velvet lined, and fitted for the guns and accessories. An additional slot is filled with a leather bound bicentennial edition of "Armsmear" with gilt details. CONDITION: Overall excellent. Guns have only faint turn lines, with only a few minor handling marks visible. A spot of corrosion present on the Dragoon's flask. Case very good with some minor dings. Book has some edgewear and a few scuffs. Overall, a very attractive commemorative set for the collector!
