IWI - Israel Weapon Industries
IWI: Weapons You Can Trust
Before IWI US came to be, it was known as Israel Military Industries (IMI). It was established on 1933 under the British Mandate. They began to work together with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to come up with the most technologically advanced small arms systems based upon the demands of troops fighting in urban areas and harsh environments. The unique combat conditions experienced by the IDF required them to step up in their game to develop innovative and legendary firearms systems that are still used by law enforcement agencies, military and security personnel all around the globe.
In 2013, IWI US began operations and not long after (2014) it had already started to reap various awards given by distinguished bodies such as American Rifle Magazine, Shooting Illustrated and by the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers.
IWI Products
While variations of the IWI’s product line exist (you may check their full product catalog here), they can be segregated into the following models:
Masada – Masada is a 9mm polymer-framed striker-fired pistol developed in order to provide an advanced solution to the modern battlefield requirements. Even to the untrained eye, you can notice that the Masada is easily concealable due to its size. Its frame is made of high strength, impact-resistant fiberglass reinforced polymers made to withstand military use and abuse in extremely harsh conditions.
Galil – Unlike Masada, the Galil product line looks more like a rifle than a pistol. This product line probably has the most number of variations ranging from the design to the shoulder rest. The Galil line draws inspiration from the Russian AK-47 and Finnish Valmet RK 62, but with various improvements. One of which is the use of polymers to reduce weight. For those with limited mobility, the Galil Ace Pistol SB might be a good choice. Check the model here.
Tavor – One look at this model and you’ll see why countries around the world have started to equip their defense forces and law enforcement agencies with it. The Tavor X95, in particular, looks sturdy, reliable and perfectly balanced. It can easily be used in the urban setting due to its “compact” (versus a regular rifle) size. See the catalog here for more details.
